Vietnam Moving Wall On Display In Stockton
US Flag

The Vietnam Moving Wall is now on display at the Weber Point Events Center in Stockton. A ribbon cutting was scheduled Thursday, June 29 at 3 p.m. to open the exhibit for tours and the wall will remain in the area through Monday, July 3. A special program is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 at noon, honoring veterans and the sacrifices and contributions they have made to our country.

The Moving Wall offers a unique opportunity to remember, honor and give thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice, with the wall a smaller replica of the permanent monument in Washington, D.C.

According to the website, stocktonmovingwall.com, the Moving Wall will be open to the public 24 hours a day. It is staffed by Veterans and civilian volunteers, who will assist in locating names, accompanying individuals or families to the Wall, helping with taking a “rubbing” of a name or just being available as a “silent partner” at the Wall.

“During the hours of darkness it will be bathed in a sheen of golden light,” the website notes.

The Wall is open to visit through 2 p.m., Monday, July 3.

A half-size replica of the memorial in Washington, D.C., the Moving Wall has been in motion touring the country for more than 30 years. There are two replica Moving Walls, which travel from April through November each year.

Officials noted that of the more than 58,000 service members lost in Vietnam, over 5,500 were from California and 52 were from Stockton.

Weber Point Events Center is at 221 N. Center St., Stockton.
