Members of the Escalon American Legion and Legion Riders – Post 263 will be busy this week, with a couple of events on their schedule.
First, they will take part in a Flag Ceremony at the second annual Open House for the Healing Arenas at 31345 Combs Road in Escalon. That event is set for Thursday, May 19 starting at 6:45 p.m.
Second, they will host an Armed Forces Day breakfast at the Escalon Masonic Hall at 1500 Viking St., Escalon, starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 21.
The May 19 Open House for the Healing Arenas program will also include a demonstration of a live session of equine assisted psychotherapy. More information, noted Healing Arenas chief Julie Baker, will also be available about their Stable Survivors Veterans Project, which pairs retired racehorses with returning veterans to assist in the readjustment for both human and animal.
The special Flag Ceremony kicks off the program, followed by the live demonstration and dessert. Attendees can just watch or take part in the live session. For more information, call 209-900-7917.
The Armed Forces Day breakfast is then scheduled on Saturday, May 21 with hours from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.; all active duty Armed Forces personnel are invited to attend at no charge.
Regularly priced tickets for the breakfast are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, linguica, fruit cup, milk, juice and coffee.
