National Taco Tuesday was observed in Escalon with a special competition, with four contestants vying to see if they could down 30 tacos in the 30-minute time frame. The event was hosted at Leonardo’s Café on Oct. 4 in conjunction with Tacos De Nieve.

“We had a food challenge of 30 tacos in 30 minutes,” said taco maker Renee Snow of Tacos De Nieve. “No one won but the maximum eaten was by Paul Lombardi, with 25 tacos.”

Other contestants were Kenny Anderson, 19 tacos; Damien Tom, 16 tacos; and Alex Galdamez, 14.

“I gave them a shirt even though they didn’t win,” noted Snow of the top eater and his three fellow contestants.

T-shirts were provided by John Vilotti at local shop Say Anything in Escalon.

“This was the first one and we will definitely be doing this fun event again,” Snow said of the ‘Taco Tuesday’ festivities.
