Stamp Out Hunger Drive May 13

Don’t forget to leave a little something extra for your mail carrier this weekend.

It’s time for the annual Postal Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, in which the carriers pick up non-perishable food items left by mail customers. They pick up the donations in addition to delivering the mail.

The one-day drive is scheduled for this Saturday, May 13 and local postal officials are asking for residents to place the non-perishable canned and boxed food items into a bag to put near their mailbox early Saturday morning, ahead of the mail delivery time.

Collection will be done in town and along rural routes.

All donations collected will be turned over to the local C.A.R.E. food cupboard to help stock the shelves of the pantry, which provides food for those in need in the Escalon and Farmington communities.

Fliers with information about the effort are going in the email this week to serve as extra reminder of the Saturday food drive.
