The first meeting for the 2018 Sober Grad Committee is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7.

Committee members will gather at Mountain Mike’s, 1255 Lillian Ave., Escalon at 6:30 p.m. to start discussions for fundraising ideas. All interested are encouraged to attend and help begin the planning to make the 2018 Escalon Sober Grad Night a successful one.

The commitment to the Sober Grad organization can be any size you want it to be. That means you can help with a fundraising event by selling tickets or getting some donations, making calls or you can step in and organize if that is what you enjoy doing. Committee members encourage the parents of the eighth graders and freshmen to join them now to make sure that they can continue to provide graduating seniors with a successful Sober Grad.

If you haven’t experienced a Sober Grad Night, ask parents and students that have; it is a once in a lifetime event for the kids and one that they talk about for years after graduation.

Some key organizers will have their last child graduating soon or have already had their final child graduate; the Sober Grad committee will definitely need some parent support this year and in the years to follow.
