Escalon First Baptist Church is inviting the community to an uplifting family Gospel Christmas concert by the Shaw Family Band on Friday, Dec. 15 at Escalon First Baptist Church.

The widely-known Shaw Family Band, of Oakhurst, recently won first place at the Visalia Great Western Fan Festival competition for Overall Best Performers.

Following the release of their album, “Everybody Sing Joy,” they traveled across the United States on a 56-day musical tour, performing in five states from California to Virginia in 2016.

The siblings ranging in age from four to 22, and eight out of the nine siblings perform. The family harmony includes Holly, Macy, Justin, Elley, Amy, Lilly, Peter, Daniel, and Joshua.

Their parents are Kevin and Wendy, who met on a blind date, and ultimately encouraged each of their children to take up music in the form of violin at age the impressionable age of four.

Now blending vocals with nine instruments (piano, violin, ukulele, mandolin, guitar, drums, bass guitar, cello, and banjo) through songs, the concert will feature energetic, new arrangements of Christmas hymns, along with unique blends of gospel and bluegrass. The Shaw Family Band is also famous for displaying an abundance of family togetherness and fun.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. There is no admission charge for the concert; however, an offering will be received for the Shaw Family Band.
