The Escalon First Tee program begins its second year at the Escalon Golf Course on Saturday, March 2, with its Open House.

The Open House will run from 10 a.m. to noon and parents may enroll their children, ages 5 through 17, at that time. There are also applications at the golf course, 17051 South Escalon-Bellota Road in Escalon, available now should parents want to sign up in advance.

The golf lessons are held on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons and cost only $60 for the entire year, which runs through the spring, summer, and fall seasons. The Open House will include meeting the First Tee Program Director, Coach Charlie, and some of the volunteer coaches as well as an introduction to the program lessons and its emphasis on building positive individual characteristics like courtesy, integrity, and responsibility.

Last year's program involved 62 kids from Escalon, Riverbank, and Ripon. The program is open to all interested youth throughout the region. Boys and girls that meet the age requirements are encouraged to sign up and take part; no prior golf experience is needed.
