Saron Lutheran Church Plans Special Services
cross

All in the community are welcome to join with Saron Lutheran Church for an Ash Wednesday Service this evening, Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. for the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.

The service will be hosted at Saron Lutheran Church, 1742 North St., Escalon.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent; a time to prepare ourselves to celebrate Easter. The ashes applied during this service are in the shape of the cross – they are a symbol of penance, mourning and mortality. The ashes are obtained from burning the palms of last year’s Palm Sunday – when the people waved palms to celebrate the arrival of Jesus.

Also, coming up, a series of Midweek Lenten services beginning Wednesday, Feb. 17. The community is asked to join Saron on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. and every Wednesday before Easter for the Holden Evening Prayer Services, also hosted at the church. Come early for a 6 p.m. soup supper.
