San Joaquin Connection In November Election
Placeholder Image

The Nov. 5, 2013 Consolidated District Election filing period has ended and there are some races of local note.

In Escalon itself, there are no elections, as the Escalon City Council and Escalon Unified School District Board do not have any seats terming out this year. The next elections for openings on those panels will be in 2014.

However, there are some races in neighboring Stanislaus County that will impact San Joaquin County.

School Districts

Oakdale Joint Unified School District, Trustee area 2 (area shared with San Joaquin County) – Four candidates filed papers to run for three available seats. Incumbents Mike House and Diane Gilbert are running, as well as salesman/project manager Joe Peterson, and retired school administrator Barbara Shook.

Valley Home Joint School District (area shared with San Joaquin County) – Three candidates have filed papers to run for two board seats. They are retired air traffic controller Spencer W. Ferrington, Jr., businessman Christopher D. Hempleman, and college professor Julie Haynes.

Other Districts

Oakdale Irrigation District – Three candidates running unopposed for three seats. Division 2 (includes area of San Joaquin County), incumbent Herman Doornenbal, Jr.; Division 3, incumbent Steve Webb; and Division 5, incumbent Jack D. Alpers.

More information is available on the Stanislaus County Elections Office website at www.stanvote.com.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
