The call for volunteers has gone out, as an effort through the Department of Fish and Game is designed to clean up and create a healthy environment on the Stanislaus River. Specifically, this effort will focus on a portion of the river flowing through Oakdale, near the Highway 120 bridge at the north end of town. Lieutenant Phil McKay of the Department of Fish and Game is helping to coordinate the effort and has scheduled the first Saturday morning of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the clean-up detail.
