Relay Meeting March 9

Monthly meetings to plan Escalon’s 2016 Relay For Life are open to all those interested in getting involved. Meetings will be at the Escalon Ambulance building on Ullrey Avenue and have been changed to the second Wednesday of the month unless otherwise specified. The next meeting is set for tonight, March 9, followed by April 13 and May 11, with team captain/participant meetings at 6:30 p.m.; committee meetings prior to that from 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Relay For Life of Escalon will be hosted at Escalon High School on June 25 and 26 this year. Also, plan to join in the ‘Paint the Town Purple’ event, tying purple ribbons around trees, sign posts and more to promote the 24-hour Relay event. Participants in the Relay For Life of Escalon 2016 will meet to ‘Paint the Town Purple’ on the morning of June 11, gathering at the city’s Main Street Park for the 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. event.

 

Join Night Out Fun

An invitation has been issued to the whole community to join in for a special Relay For Life Night Out, offered by the team, ‘A Walk to Remember’ on Saturday, March 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Escalon Sportsmen’s Club, 25195 E. River Road. This will be a night of fun, friends, and fundraising. There will be a full bar and food for purchase, as well as a raffle. There will be Modesto Nuts tickets on sale for $7 each for the April 30 game (7:05 p.m. game time). They will also be taking orders for The Pie Company pies, delivery will be the week of Easter; Gold Canyon Candles, Tyra Makeup, Plexus Slim, and more. Proceeds raised will benefit Escalon Relay For Life and The American Cancer Society. Cash or checks will be accepted. For more information, call 209-604-1799.

 

Play Bunco For ACS

Set aside time to have some fun with Team Cancer Stampers, as they host their fifth annual Relay For Life Bunco Bash on Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m. at the Escalon Azores Band Hall, 1436 First St., Escalon. Tickets for the fun afternoon cost $25 and there will also be ‘opportunity drawing’ tickets available for prizes.

 

Vintage Train Ride

Tickets are available now for the special event, a ride on a vintage train on the original Transcontinental Route on the Niles Canyon Railway. This seventh annual ‘Ride the Rails for Relay’ trip is set for Saturday, April 23 with departures at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. from Sunol Depot, 6 Kilkare Road, Sunol. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children 2 to 12, under 2 ride free. Make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Cash is also accepted at the depot and all proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Tickets are valid only on Saturday, April 23 for the time shown on the ticket. Submissions will be included in the weekly ‘Relay Round Up’ feature.
