Recreation Department Taking Sign-Ups For Youth Programs

World Events is currently taking registration for its 5 on 5 Youth Flag Football Leagues. The non-competitive program focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship and skill development in a fun, no pressure environment. This is a safe non-contact way to introduce your child to organized football. The league is open to boys and girls ages 4-17 and will run Saturdays beginning Nov. 12, continuing through Jan. 7; all games will be played at Hogan Field. Fee is $55. Registration is done online only at www.cityofescalon.org. Deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 7.

Cub Basketball Registration begins Monday, Oct. 3 for kids ages 7 to 14. Sign them up for an eight-week intensive fundamental skills development league that is both coached and refereed by EHS Basketball Staff and members of the EHS Cougar Basketball Program. Cost is $55 for Escalon Unified School District residents and $60 for non-district residents. Clinic and game dates to be announced; the season starts in January.

Also starting Monday, Oct. 3 you can sign the younger kids, pre-K, kindergarten and first graders up for the city’s Youth Basketball program. The season will run for six weeks, January to March, and games will be played in the Escalon High School old gym. Fees are based on the child’s grade at time of registration. Residents of Escalon School District: Pre-K (ages 3-4) $35; Grades K-1 $40. Residents outside the Escalon School District: Pre-K (ages 3-4) $40; Grades K-1 $45. Last day to register is Friday, Dec. 4.
