Public Information Meeting Focuses On Transportation

The San Joaquin Council of Governments, SJCOG, will host an informational meeting on Monday, Feb. 26 at Escalon City Hall, 2060 McHenry Ave.

The purpose of the meeting is to preview the 2018 Draft Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS), which will be released for a 55-day public comment period on March 2. Members of the public will have an opportunity to preview elements of the plan and ask questions of staff at the Monday informational session.

The meeting will be held in an open-house style format from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Exhibits will cover the Plan’s impact on both the city of Escalon and the general region of San Joaquin County. Topics will include but are not limited to: transportation investments, performance metrics, and project development. All interested persons are invited to attend. San Joaquin Council of Governments is a joint powers authority comprised of the County of San Joaquin and the cities of Stockton, Lodi, Manteca, Tracy, Ripon, Escalon, and Lathrop. The agency serves as the federally-designated metropolitan planning organization, the state-designated regional transportation planning agency, the implementing agency for the habitat conservation program, the local transportation authority (overseeing Measure K, the local half-cent transportation sales tax), and as a technical resource for the San Joaquin region.
