No longer hosted as part of the Fall Homecoming Week events, the annual Powder Puff football games were played at Engel Field on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Games pitted the freshmen against the seniors in the opener, the juniors vs. the sophomores in the second game and the winners of those two contests facing off in the finale. The freshmen were winners over the seniors in an upset to start the evening, with the juniors then getting past the sophomores in a game that was marred by a second half scuffle between two players – one from each grade level – that resulted in their ejection from the game.

The finale saw the juniors take the Powder Puff title with a victory over the freshmen.

Meanwhile, the school is gearing up for Fall Homecoming, which will run from Monday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 13, culminating with Friday afternoon’s parade and the Homecoming football game against Mountain House, with crowning of the Homecoming Queen at halftime of the varsity game.

Monday, Oct. 9 will be observed as Workout Day at the school; students should come dressed in workout attire. Tuesday, Oct. 10 is Sports Day, wear any team jersey or shirt; Wednesday Oct. 11 is Light up the Sky Day, with bright colors recommended. On Thursday, Oct. 12 it will be Good vs. Evil Day with upperclassmen modeling evil characters, underclassmen donning the good character costumes. On Friday, the traditional Spirit Day encourages the wearing of Cougar gear.

The Friday, Oct. 13 football game will be the first home contest for the Cougars since Sept. 1 and their first league game at home this season.
