Escalon Historical Society museum volunteer Evelyn Swass is shown putting together a previous winter season for the front window. A holiday sale is going on now at the Main Street museum.

With a variety of uniquely Escalon-themed holiday gifts, the Escalon Historical Society Museum is ready for the holidays. Members and volunteers gathered during regular museum hours on Saturday, Nov. 28 to add some holiday scene displays to the large front windows and to organize gift items.

“We have a wide variety of ornaments, we are ordering more history (of Escalon) books, we have our T-shirts and cookbooks,” said Society President Barb Willis, who is wrapping up her term.

Many of the items have the Historical Society logo or feature the historic Main Street caboose, Willis added. There are also kitchen towels, jewelry and more.

The window scenes are based on the popular holiday movie ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and will remain up throughout December.

Monday, Dec. 14 will be the Society’s annual Installation Dinner, catered by Joe Coelho, and will include the installation of the new slate of officers for 2016. Taking over as president will be Vickie Mello with Chuck VanGorkum assuming the Vice President spot. Willis will stay on as an officer, taking over as treasurer.

Regular museum hours are Wednesdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. though the museum will be closed for both Christmas and New Year’s weeks later this month.
