Letter To The Editor
Many Thanks To Give
thank you

Dear Editor,

The Escalon High School Boy’s Golf Team would once again like to thank Dr. Tom Hagan, his family, and the staff of the Escalon Golf Course for allowing the team to use its facilities for practices and matches. We are well aware of the problems and inconveniences that come with hosting high schools on a golf course, and we consider ourselves very fortunate that those who work at the Escalon Golf Course go out of their way to make us feel welcome.

We would like to share what a privilege it is to have such a wonderful golf facility where we can practice and improve our game. Speaking with coaches from opposing high schools, it becomes more and more evident just how lucky we are. Escalon Golf Course offers us use of the driving range, access to the course, and an atmosphere that is friendly and cordial. It is the same caring attitude that makes Escalon such a wonderful place to live. Rather than being looked at as a “nuisance,” our team is a source of pride for those who play and work there. We believe, unequivocally, that the success of our boys team this year, which culminated with a second place finish in League, and a third place finish at the Section Championships, could not have been accomplished without the support of the Escalon Golf Course. You are “family,” and we appreciate everything you do for us.

The program would also like to acknowledge the generosity of many community individuals for their donations to our program. Whether it is golf balls, bags, clubs, shoes, or anything else that our players might need, they are seemingly always there to help. Paul Bender, Stan Ross, Joe Luis, Mike Pitassi, Jerry Emery, are just some of the people who have been instrumental in making sure that our players always have the equipment they need. In addition, we would like to thank the families of our players who have gone out of their way to make sure that we are the best fed golf team in the section. A special thanks to Steve and Pam Bava, Phil and Marilyn Bava, Paul and Irene Gardner, Daniel and Jennifer Levin, and the Escalon Sports Boosters for always taking care of us. And most importantly, we would like to acknowledge the tremendous support that we receive from members of the Escalon community. You are always giving our team and players such positive feedback. Believe us when we say that your praise and recognition in our accomplishments means the world to us.

Finally, the program would also like to acknowledge Jerry Emery for his years of volunteering as an assistant coach, and working with our younger players. The hours you have donated in making our program successful, are countless. The lessons you have taught the young men who play for us about golf and life, are priceless. As you walk away, realize that it was a job well-done and that we have all gained from having you work with us. It is said that the best thing you can ask for in life is that you made a difference, and you certainly did that. Thank you and take care, Coach.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has helped and supported our program. We couldn’t have done it without you.
