Friday, Oct. 4 is the date for this year’s Fall Homecoming at Escalon High School and plans have already been put in place for a full week of festivities.

Longtime Trans-Valley League rival Hughson will be the opponent at the Friday night football game for that week, with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen due at halftime. Queen candidates will be announced on Friday, Sept. 27 at the school.

A special Homecoming Cougar Wear Sale is planned by the EHS Sports Boosters on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the snack bar on the football field. The sale is designed to encourage elementary-aged Cougar fans to get some spirit wear and there will be a new line of Cougar gear unveiled on Saturday for youth and adults. The hope, said Boosters Club member Laura Kimble, is to get everyone to show their new spirit wear during the Oct. 4 Homecoming parade downtown.

Monday, Sept. 30 will feature a night rally to kick off the special week and the focus this year is on Super Heroes, with the freshmen assigned the Power Rangers, sophomores Superman, juniors Spiderman and the seniors, Batman.

Monday will be American Hero day, with students encouraged to dress in red, white and blue or as firefighters or police officers. On Tuesday, it will be Dynamic Duo day, with students coming dressed as twins. Caped Cougars will be on Wednesday, with the preferred attire some Cougar wear with capes, and Thursday will be Super Heroes Day Off day, a lazy day, but not a traditional pajama day.

Friday will be the class colors and spirit day.

Powder Puff football will be staged on Wednesday evening, Sept. 25 at Engel Field.

The overall theme for the week is ‘Escalon Saves The Day’ and floats will be built by classes based on their assigned super hero.

Friday’s Homecoming Parade will be at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, with the football games kicking off at 5:30 p.m. for the junior varsity, a 7:30 p.m. start for varsity.
