Mark the date, Saturday, Dec. 13 and plan to join friends and neighbors for the annual Christmas on Main Street celebration.

There will be the traditional Parade of Lights, vendor and food booths, music, dance performances, wagon rides, s’mores and more and will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Rain date is Sunday, Dec. 14.

Sponsored by the Escalon Chamber of Commerce, the annual celebration also features an appearance by Santa Claus, who usually arrives at the end of the parade and then visits with youngsters on the city’s Main Street stage.

Local businesses, clubs or service organizations interested in hosting a booth, providing some event sponsorship or participating in the parade, should contact Debbie Murken at 402-0505, Robert Swift at 595-5013 or Julia Robertson at 821-3072.

Swift said some of the businesses on Main Street will keep their doors open that night for shoppers and have some special holiday deals. The fire pits in the city’s Main Street Park will be lit as well, so attendees can roast marshmallows and make s’mores.

Booths are scheduled to open at 3 p.m., with entertainment also due to start then, with the holiday light parade – each entry must have some type of lighting as part of the group or float – taking off at 5:30 p.m.
