Highway Clean Up Effort Due

As he has in the past, local resident Jeffrey Hoxsie will be out on Highway 120 this week, picking up litter in the ‘adopt-a-highway’ program.

His date for the litter removal is Thursday, April 25 and Hoxsie does the work in honor of the late Diane Elaine Smith, his girlfriend who was struck and killed while crossing Escalon-Bellota at Mahon Road in February, 2012.

The route that Hoxsie covers, with approval from Caltrans, is along Highway 120 from Campbell Road at the eastern edge of the Escalon city limits to Victory Road, at the San Joaquin-Stanislaus County line. The roughly six-mile stretch will be cleaned on both sides.

“Please watch out for me on the roadway and other persons who are volunteers,” Hoxsie said.

Along with his clean-up day on Thursday, the Love Escalon effort due on Saturday may also see some workers doing litter removal and general beautification work along the roadways.
