Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District firefighters gathered at the station on Coley Avenue recently to accept plaques and awards from Jim Doucette, fourth from left, of the Firefighters Burn Institute of Sacramento, honored for their fundraising and education efforts. Escalon hosted a Fill The Boot drive May 21 and 22 this year, raising $23,765 and also had an information booth on site. Doucette, representing the Institute, also stopped by the Farmington Fire Station to present awards there, with the recent Labor Day weekend Fill The Boot drive raising $34,522.87 over the four-day effort. Volunteers added in a little more so the department presented a check for $35,000 to the burn institute to help support its programs and services.
