Tickets are on sale and final plans are being made for the Escalon Sober Grad Night Party for the Class of 2013.

This private party for EHS graduating seniors only is planned for Friday night, May 31 into the early morning hours of Saturday, June 1 in the EHS main gym.

Parent volunteers are still needed and those interested in helping out can contact Debbie Leal at 209-639-2513 or Tammy Alcantor at 209-886-1849.

Each year features a theme and organizers will be decorating the gym – inside and outside – on Wednesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 30 during the day, then Friday if needed.

Alcantor said they are also still accepting prizes – from cash donations to merchandise – to give out to seniors throughout the evening on May 31.

“The goal is that everyone goes home with something,” said Alcantor, who noted that prizes can range from bicycles to cash to electronics.

The grad night party gives seniors the chance to spend their final night of high school together with friends in a safe, fun, sober environment. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Donors can also purchase tickets to give to students that may not be able to afford them.

Activities for the night will range from casino tables to mechanical bull riding, jousting, a mega obstacle course, laser tag, climbing rock wall, photo booth, dance revolution and a bungee run, along with music by a DJ, food, beverages, Henna  tattoos, caricature artist, hypnotist and more.

Doors this year will open at 10:30 p.m. and close at 11:30 p.m.; students attending must be in the door by 11:30 p.m. The party ends at 4:30 a.m. Saturday; anyone wanting to leave prior to that must be picked up by a parent.

Senior Awards Night for the Class of 2013 is this evening, May 22, and there are finals May 28 through 30, with a special Senior Breakfast on May 31 at 7:30 a.m.

Graduation for Escalon High will be on Friday evening, May 31, with graduates able to spend some time celebrating with family before coming in to the Sober Grad night event.
