Escalon Youth Basketball Sign-Ups Now Underway

The popular Cub Basketball program for kids seven to 14 returns this year, along with the Youth Basketball for kids in pre-k, kindergarten and first grades.

Cub Basketball begins with clinics on Saturdays, Jan. 6 and 13 with game days from Jan. 27 through Feb. 24, Saturdays only.

Cost is $55 for Escalon Unified School District residents; $60 for non-EUSD residents. This intensive fundamental skills development league is coached and refereed by EHS basketball staff and members of the EHS Cougars basketball program.

Clinics will be at the El Portal Gym, Jan. 6 and 13 with ages 7 and 8 at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; ages 9 and 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; ages 11 to 14, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Following the clinics, players will be placed on teams by age and ability. Game days begin Jan. 27 and games will be played in three-hour blocks, the first hour will be a skills clinic followed by games. The games will be held at both Escalon High School and El Portal gyms. Game schedules will be determined once registration is complete.

For the Youth Basketball program, deadline to register is Tuesday, Dec. 5 and the cost is $35 for pre-k (ages 3 to 4) for EUSD residents, $40 for non-EUSD residents. Cost for kindergarten and first graders (ages 5 and 6) is $40 for school district residents, $45 for non-school district residents. Fees are based on the child’s age/grade at the time of registration. Games will begin in mid-January and will be played in the old gym on the EHS campus.
