A Memorial Resolution introduced in the California State Assembly by 12th District Assemblyman Heath Flora in January honors the life and legacy of the late Dave Ennis. A copy of the resolution was presented to members of the Ennis family at Monday night’s Escalon City Council meeting.

A longtime member of the council, who served three terms as Mayor, Dave Ennis passed away on Jan. 5, 2018 at the age of 71. Representative Russell Fowler of Assemblyman Flora’s office was on hand for the March 5 council session and read the memorial resolution, then presented a copy of it to the family.

Wife Rosalie Ennis and daughters Stephanie Ennis, Andrea Ennis, Nicole (Ennis) Harp and grandchildren Theodore ‘Theo’ and Vivienne Harp were all in attendance.

Ennis was memorialized for his “great public spirit” and his “strong obligation to improve the quality of life for future generations.”

He spent 24 years on the Escalon City Council.

Professionally, Ennis worked as a civilian for the Department of Defense and had a 40-year career with the Defense Logistics Agency, earning the highest civilian honor and inducted into the Defense Logistics Agency Hall of Fame.

He was involved in multiple community service projects through the years and also was recognized locally through the naming of the Hogan-Ennis Park at the city’s Community Center.

In introducing the resolution to the Assembly, Flora honored Ennis for “his illustrious record of personal, professional, and civic achievements, as well as the love and devotion he gave to his family and friends.”

Following the presentation, Escalon Mayor Jeff Laugero invited members of the Ennis family to offer some thoughts if they wished; wife Rosalie Ennis thanked those attending for the recognition, noting the family was grateful.

Laugero returned the comment, saying the council and community are grateful that the family “shared” Ennis with them for so many years.

“His mark is on this community,” Laugero said.
