Escalon Youth Center is hosting an outdoor theater experience, with a Free Community Movie Night being planned. They will be showing Disney Pixar’s “Up” on a 30-foot screen for all to enjoy on the lawn at the youth center on Friday, June 23 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on; the Youth Center will also be open during this time for concessions.

Come enjoy “The Snow Queen” on Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24 at Hutton’s Hamlet Performing Arts Center, 132 W. G St., Oakdale. To defeat Mother Nature and cover the world with ice, the Snow Queen kidnaps Kay and holds her prisoner at her ice palace. If Kay can’t solve an ice puzzle in 24 hours, her heart will freeze solid, and with it, the world. Kay’s best friend Gerda sets out on a journey to rescue Kay, and meets a host of strange characters on the way. In the end, only love will melt the Snow Queen’s icy reign of terror. Among those in the cast is Escalon resident Rachel Swift, playing the role of Gerda. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Call for show times, 209-848-1216.

Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley at the Riverbank Community Center. Doors open Wednesdays at 9 a.m.; the center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., and first time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6.

Join the fun at the Miss Escalon Paint and Mimosa Fundraiser, set for Saturday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bavaro residence on Sexton Road. Tickets may be purchased at https://www.paintnite.com/events/_1189252. This includes two hours of painting instruction for $45 and mimosas are included. $15 of each ticket sold will be donated to the Lions Club and will benefit the Miss Escalon Pageant. The Care Partner Education Forum is designed to fit the needs of unpaid care partners and families caring for those with Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia. Learn more about the diseases, the latest updates on research, strategies in communication and tips on self-care. The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. Wednesday, June 28 will be opening day for the four fireworks booths around Escalon, each benefitting a local organization. The booths sell the ‘Safe and Sane’ fireworks that are permitted for use in Escalon. The Escalon Ag/FFA Boosters booth will be at Big Boy Market on Jackson Avenue; the Sports Boosters will be set up in the parking lot at MarVal Main Street Market on McHenry Avenue; the Escalon Covenant Church booth will be set up in the parking lot at the church, 1155 Escalon Ave.; and the Parks Foundation booth for the City of Escalon will be stationed in Paddack Village shopping center along Jackson Avenue, adjacent to Hula’s Restaurant. Booths can operate from noon on Wednesday, June 28 up until midnight on Tuesday, July 4.

The Double Barrel Boys with Special Guests will be performing at the West Side Theater in Newman on Saturday, July 1. Doors open at 6 p.m., showtime is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for all seats. Double Barrel Boys are a music group hailing from the Central Valley, with the group started in 2012 making Rap/Country/Rock infused music. West Side Theater is at 1331 Main St., Newman. Make plans to join in the Senior Stride Fun Walk event put on by the Modesto Rotary Club. The Friday, Sept. 8 event provides seniors, families and friends the opportunity to enjoy fellowship, a fun walk, entertainment and more while learning about services and resources available to them in the community. This year’s festivities will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., staged at East La Loma Park. The park is at 2001 Edgebrook Drive, Modesto. Registration fee to participate is $2 and includes a Senior Stride T-shirt, light breakfast, community vendor fair and more.
