Escalon’s Community Center was packed with crab lovers on Saturday evening, with the Escalon Kiwanis Club putting on its annual Crab Feed fundraiser.

Club members, with assistance from Escalon High School students involved in the youth arm of Kiwanis, the Key Club, and other school service groups, converged at the Community Center early Saturday morning to get tables set up, silent and live auction items ready for display, raffle prizes coordinated and to start preparations for serving up a memorable meal.

“We sold out,” said Kiwanis Club President Shannan Jaime. “Every year it seems like we are getting more people coming to the dinner and this year we had bigger and better prizes.”

There were a variety of raffle prizes available and the live auction items also featured such notables as Dodge Ridge ski lesson and lift tickets, a 7-speed Mongoose multi-use bike, tickets to the Sacramento Kings games against the Minnesota Timberwolves, various catering opportunities and a VIP Table for the 2019 crab feed.

This year was the 14th annual Kiwanis Club Crab Feed and proceeds will benefit a variety of school and community activities. Those range from Christmas on Main to the local Easter Egg Hunt for kids, the Every 15 Minutes program and sixth grade science camp.
