Getting a two-pronged lesson – staying safe and helping others – the youngsters at Country Kids Child Development Center took part in a special event to wrap up their week on Friday. Many of the kids at the local center participated in the St. Jude’s Trike-a-Thon.

“Starting on Monday, May 7, there was a lesson each day about bicycle safety, such as always wear your helmet, always watch where you’re going, etc.,” explained Dawn Briggs of Country Kids. “On Friday, the children brought their bikes, trikes and scooters for a Trike-a-Thon.”

By bringing in pledges and donations, the children and their families raised $1875 for St. Jude’s as of the Trike-a-Thon on Friday, May 11. The event was hosted at the Country Kids site on Miller Avenue in Escalon.

“The total may increase as there are still a couple of days remaining for donations,” Briggs added.
