Council Candidate Forum Scheduled By Chamber
ecc

The Escalon Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Candidates Forum for the three candidates running for Escalon City Council. The forum will be held at the Escalon Library on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the forum begins promptly at 7 p.m.

Candidates are incumbent Jeff Laugero, former councilmember and past Escalon Police Chief Walter Murken and newcomer Will Smith, who is listed as a superintendent/businessman on the official ballot. Incumbent Gary Haskin did not file for re-election, opting to step down after serving 20 years on the council.

There are two four-year seats available on the council; the top two vote getters in November will win the seats.

Chamber officials ask that if you have questions that you would like to see discussed, send those questions to P.O. Box 222, Escalon CA 95320 or email your questions to escaloncofc@gmail.com by Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Forum Guidelines: Each candidate will be given two minutes for an opening statement at the start of the forum and one minute for a closing statement at the end. Questions from the audience must be to the candidates at large and not to an individual candidate. Each candidate will have one minute to respond to each question.
