As they did last summer, the City of Escalon is using the time when students are not in school to continue reconstruction work along First Street, near El Portal Middle School. Just underway, Phase 2 of the First Street reconstruction project will include rehabilitation of over 2,100 feet of First Street from just west of Sanchez Way to the west side of the Oklahoma Avenue intersection. The project will include traffic and erosion control, removal of existing pavement and concrete, installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk, concrete curb ramps, striping and asphalt concrete pavement installation. Estimated completion date is the end of July, before school resumes in August.
