Escalon Police Department has a couple of events on the schedule for Saturday, April 29.
The popular ‘Coffee with a Cop’ will be hosted at the Starbuck’s in Escalon on Lillian Avenue, with officers available to meet with the public in an informal setting. Hours are 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; coffee and assorted pastries will be available. Police officials said the last one was very successful and they hope to see at least as many people attend the Saturday, April 29 event. By hosting it on a Saturday this time as opposed to a weekday, they hope to draw in those that have to work during the week. The informal coffee talk gives residents the chance to ask questions of officers, discuss concerns and just meet the police department personnel in a relaxed atmosphere.
Also scheduled for Saturday, Aril 29, the police department will host a ‘Got Drugs?’ medication disposal day at the police station, 2040 McHenry Ave.
Residents can turn in their unused or expired medications for safe disposal at any time during the ‘drug drop’ hours, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Throughout San Joaquin County that day, there will be 10 drug drop off locations, including four in Stockton as well as single drop off sites in Escalon, Lathrop, Lockeford, Lodi, Ripon and Tracy.
Residents should remove pills from containers and packaging before bringing them in, then consolidate the loose pills in a plastic bag. Remove personal information from the packaging. Medical sharps will be accepted at the Escalon location but must be in sealed bio-hazard or other sturdy sealed containers.
