Members of the Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District gathered recently for their tenth annual Appreciation Dinner and along with a video chronicling some of the department’s notable calls of the past year, the night also included presentation of service pins and special commendations. Top photo, receiving pins were, from left, Moe Silva, 20 years; Dave Velasco, 15 years; Chief Rick Mello, 10 years; Ryan Strasser and Catherine Johns, five years. At side, Certificates of Appreciation for support to the department were presented to Glenn and Terri Van Ruler and Mark Hogan. A Distinguished Service award was given to department Chaplain Jim Davis and wife Brenda and an honorary department membership bestowed on the late Brent Layton, presented to his mother Shirley Hughes.
