The Gallo Center for the Arts has announced the election of Ginger Johnson as its new Board Chair. Johnson succeeds Christina Gomez, whose two-year term as Chair ends June 30, 2025.

“It is a tremendous honor to have been elected to lead such an incredibly diverse board,” said Johnson. “This remarkable and beloved institution continues to be a symbol of excellence in the industry and a vital part of cultural life throughout the Central Valley. I am looking forward to working closely with our exceptional CEO, Chad Hilligus, and his outstanding senior leadership team, whose vision and dedication are driving the Center into an exciting new chapter.”

Johnson, former Associate Superintendent, Modesto City Schools, joined the Board of Trustees in 2017. She was elected to the Board of Directors in 2021, where she has served as Board Secretary since 2022 and Chair of the Compensation & Benefits Committee since 2023.

“Ginger Johnson brings a wealth of experience in education, business and board leadership, alongside a longstanding commitment to the arts and the success of the Gallo Center,” said Hilligus. “We’re delighted to have her in this critical role.”

Also joining the Center’s governing Board of Directors beginning July 1, 2025 are Kathryn Davis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valley First Credit Union, and Jeff Reed, President of Reed Family Companies.
