Holiday Closures For City, School

Monday, Jan. 17 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with multiple closures due to the holiday.

Escalon Unified School District campuses will be closed, with no school for the day, with all state, county and local government offices also closed. Banks will be closed, there will be no mail delivery and businesses have the option of closing.

The regularly scheduled Escalon City Council meeting, normally held the third Monday of the month, has been pushed back a day until Tuesday, Jan. 18 because of the holiday. Also, a reminder that the meetings now start at 7 p.m., a change from the previous start time of 7:30 p.m. Meetings are in the Ekholm Community Room at the Escalon Public Library.

Along with being closed on Monday, Jan. 17, Escalon City offices will also be closed on Friday, Jan. 21 for the regular once-a-month staff furlough day, designed to cut costs through the end of this fiscal year. Additional furlough days are scheduled for Fridays, Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20 and June 17. Holiday closures at City Hall are Monday, Feb. 21 for Presidents' Day and Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day.
