Grant Program Benefits Select First Time Buyers

Through a special program, $1,000 first time homebuyer grants are available for police officers, firefighters, EMTs, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and educators in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.

The grant, offered by the Central Valley Association of REALTORS with funding from the California Association of REALTORS Housing Affordability Fund is designed to encourage critical workers to buy homes and raise their family in the Central Valley.

Applications are now open for:

First responders including police officers, firefighters, and EMT workers;

Personnel necessary for the support of first responders including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and ancillary personnel; and

Educators actively working in a public or private institution from Pre-K through College.

“The Central Valley is the best place in the world to live and raise a family, but that’s only the case when our workers can actually afford to buy a house and settle down here,” said Congressman Josh Harder in announcing the special grant opportunity locally. “Today, I’m happy to encourage all of our first responders, police officers, medical workers and teachers who are thinking of buying their first home to go online and apply for their $1,000 grant. With prices going up across the board, it’s the least we can do.”

The grant will reimburse a portion of the first-time home buyer’s closing costs and will be awarded after the close of escrow.
