The next meeting of the Escalon Farmington Community Garden Club is set for Thursday, March 3.
Scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, the meeting will be hosted at the Farmington United Methodist Church, 25626 Elm St., Farmington.
Speaker will be Lee Miller and his presentation will be ‘Dahlia: Most Elegant Flower.’ All those interested are encouraged to attend; the club welcomes new members and visitors.
Miller is well known for his expertise in growing Dahlia’s as well as other plants. He is also a National Flower Show Judge. Dahlia’s are a diverse flower in color and shape and are an excellent cut flower.
The guest speaker will lead off the program at 1 p.m., followed by the club’s general meeting following the presentation.
A door prize will be awarded to someone just for attending and snacks are provided.
There will also be drawings for raffle prizes; proceeds from the sale of the tickets will help the local club meet their goal of giving a $1000 scholarship to a graduate in the area each year.
Also, looking ahead, the garden club will host a Plant Sale on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., being put on at United Methodist Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon. This sale will be part of the Youth Scholarship Fundraiser program.
