Five area gardens featured on spring tour
Mo garden

Scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025 the Modesto Garden Club, Inc. will host its annual Spring Garden Tour.

The Modesto Garden Club hosted its first Spring Garden Tour in 1932 with three gardens. This year the club hosts five self-touring gardens on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tickets are $25 for those 12 and older, while children 11 years and under are admitted free. They can be purchased at the Modesto Garden Club (MGC) office, 622 14th St., Modesto, each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon until the tour. Tickets are also available at Morris Nursery, Marcy’s Hallmark, The Paper Habit, Suite 52 Living, Fresh Idea Flower Co., Thompson’s Building Supply & Nursery, Westurf Nursery, the Greenery Nursery, and online through VENMO or modestogardenclub.org. Tickets are available for purchase on the day of the tour at each garden location.

The five gardens being showcased this spring embrace a range of ideas, plants and focus. Prepare to be wowed by a tropical paradise, a one acre “mountain lake” surrounded by redwoods, a Japanese maple tree and rose oasis, a drought tolerant hybrid garden and a cottage garden. A Master Gardener’s booth will include gardening tips and information. Refreshments are served at the Modesto Garden Club garden and you can purchase tickets for opportunity drawing items at the club’s garden as well.

The 2025 Modesto gardens on tour include the following locations, all in Modesto: 2525 Paradise Ave.; 3530 Kiernan Ave; 7217 Spy Glass Drive; 1829 Giardino Way; and The Modesto Garden Club Office at 622 14th St.

All tours take place outside in the garden. Funds from the Spring Garden Tour make it possible for the Modesto Garden Club to continue its 100-plus year focus on urban beautification and preservation of green spaces. Proceeds support scholarships for college bound horticulture and landscape students, planting the Aileen Gallo Memorial Clock, planting flower pots in the downtown area and Gallo Center for the Arts, maintaining the Senior Citizens center garden, school and therapeutic gardens, and over a dozen additional philanthropic endeavors.

The Modesto Garden Club will also host a Summer Luncheon and Table Viewing in June at Del Rio Country Club. Table viewing is open to the public.
