Firefighters Plan Tree Pick-Up

Now that the holidays are over, members of the Escalon Fire Department will conduct their annual Christmas tree pick-up service, free of charge.

Residents within the city limits of Escalon can put their trees out on Friday night, Jan. 6 for pick-up during the day on Saturday, Jan. 7.

Fire officials said all ornaments and tinsel must be removed and the trees should be taken out of their stands. Those residents living in cul-de-sacs or on dead end streets are asked to place their tree near the intersection closest to their home, as it is difficult to fit the large trailer in to those smaller spaces. Others can put them out curbside in front of their homes.

The tree pick-up will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Once collected, firefighters take the trees to the local Lionudakis Firewood, where they are chipped up.
