Firefighters from multiple departments are on scene of a commercial structure fire in Escalon.

The fire at 1905 McHenry – at the Kraft Heinz Foods Company headquarters – was reported about 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Along with Escalon fire crews, mutual aid was called in from Lathrop-Manteca, Ripon, French Camp, Montezuma and Stanislaus Consolidated, with a working structure fire at the plant. Escalon responded with two engines and a water tender for the initial attack. Farmington Fire Department was also called in to service, covering the Escalon station.

The first report from officials did not indicate where in the plant the fire originated; more details to follow as they become available. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, crews were still on scene but reported primarily having the fire contained.
