Just a couple of weeks remain in the 2023-24 school year and the plans are nearly complete for the Sober Grad Night event for graduating seniors in the Escalon Unified School District.

The Friday night gathering for graduates on May 31 will be hosted on the Escalon High School campus and runs from 9:30 p.m. to 3 a.m.; with students treated to a variety of activities, music, prize drawings and plenty of food.

For their final night of high school together, the goal is to give students a great memory of time spent with friends and fellow graduates.

“We are in need of $10 gift cards and monetary donations,” said Krysten Lial, one of this year’s coordinators for the overnight party.

Donations can be made payable to “EHS Sober Grad” and sent to Escalon High School, Attn: Sober Grad, 1528 Yosemite Ave., Escalon, CA 95320.

Lial said the $10 gift cards are sought for fast food restaurants, frozen yogurt, coffee shops, and the like.

“This year we have some fun new things in store for the graduates,” Lial said.

Among the activities planned are an Escape Room, mini golf, soccer pool and yard games, along with the traditional casino, caricature artist, photo booth, paint night, a cornhole tournament and the hypnotist show.

“Also, food, drinks and tons of prizes,” Lial explained. “Everyone goes home a winner.”

The cost to attend is $50 per student; the seniors check in at 9:30 a.m. and the fun and games run throughout the night, closing out with the hypnotist show concluding about 3 a.m.
