ffa

Taking to the road on Saturday, March 12, 2022, Escalon High School’s FFA competed at the Merced College Field Day. Both the Poultry Judging Team and the Farm Power team competed. This was the second field day for poultry and the third field day for farm power.

We congratulate our young poultry team on placing Second High Team overall. Cortney Ball was the third place high individual. Lillian Lombardo placed seventh overall. The team took first place in the sub-category of Live Bird Judging, and Ready to Cook Carcass Judging, with Cortney Ball placing first in the Ready to Cook sub contest.

On Saturday, March 5, Escalon FFA took five of their CDE teams to UC Davis to compete in the contests. CDEs are Career Development Events that students are able to participate in through the Ag Program at Escalon High. The students practice and compete for their different judging teams. The teams that competed were Livestock Judging, Vegetable Crop Judging, Food Science, Farm Power, and Poultry Judging.

This was the state finals contest for Food Science and they placed second in the entire state. Makenzie Mendes, who competed on the Food Science team, placed First High Individual in the state. Congratulations Makenzie, the chapter is so proud; we congratulate all of the students who competed and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the CDE season has in store for our students.
