On September 25th, Jackie Brodie, Helen Burke, Laura Wharff and Pastor Mark Wharff of the Farmington United Methodist Church attended a "Volunteers In Mission" in Salt Lake City, Utah and returned on September 30th. The purpose for the trip was to participate in the UMCOR, (United Methodist Committee on Relief). The church donates supplies and money to assist the groups of volunteers in order for them to assemble Health Kits, Cleaning Supplies and Baby Layettes for disaster areas throughout the United States and other countries. Jackie and Helen sewed baby gowns for the layettes, later joining Laura and Pastor Wharff assembling the donations into the boxes. Another group of volunteers, from Colorado, joined them at the Western Warehouse. While there, they saw 47 pallets of their assembled products shipped out. There are approximately 25 to 30 boxes per pallet. Helen stated the work was very rewarding as they feel they are helping families that have endured a great hardship.
