Escalon FFA Members Come Away With AgFest Honors

Fair is what most of our kids think about all year and when it’s over all you can think about is the next year. Starting off the first week of “fair” (San Joaquin AgFest) Best in Show Dairy Goat went to Destiny Reyes; congratulations. Then a great day in the Dairy Barn. Huge congrats to Avery Terra with her Supreme Champion Replacement Heifer and Champion Showman Award. Congratulations to Jamileth Delgado for winning both True Novice and Greenhand showmanship, moving into advanced and placing eighth. Jordin Lovett placed third in the Greenhand class. Makenzie Mendes was second overall in advanced showmanship, McKenna Pearce was fifth and Haylee Castro was sixth. Congrats to all of our students in their market show. Mackenzie Mendes placed third, Jordin Lovett was fourth, McKenna Pearce was seventh, Jamileth Delgado was eighth and Haylee Castro was 10th. And what an awesome way to wrap up the 2022 San Joaquin Ag Fest Dairy Show. A huge congratulations to our girls as they won First Place FFA Chapter Group. The summer yearlings also showed well; Haylee Castro was fifth, Avery Terra was sixth and McKenna Pearce was ninth. So proud of all of our exhibitors. In the breeding goat barn congratulations to Aiden Hohenwarter, your Champion Advanced goat showman.

Breeding beef results, a huge congrats to both Molly Terpstra and Natalie Giuntoli for their hard work in the breeding beef show. These ladies put in hundreds of hours to ensure their animals are show ready and their hard work paid off.

Molly Terpstra had the Champion Registered AOB English Bull, Supreme Champion Bull, first place Junior Female, Champion English Yearling Heifer, Reserve Supreme Female, Champion Cow/Calf Pair. In Showmanship, she took first place Champion Showman.

Natalie Giuntoli had the fourth place Junior Yearling and in Showmanship, she was first place Greenhand/fourth place Advanced Showman.

Moving into the next week of fair starting off with market goats, the show was a huge success for Escalon FFA. Results are as follows: Reserve Grand Champion, Aiden Hohenwarter; FFA Reserve Champion, Cali Granis; Champion FFA Lightweight, Gianna Bava; Reserve Champion FFA lightweight Sarah Bava; FFA Champion Chapter group: Escalon.

All we can say is “Wow” because these goat kids rocked it at fair this year.

Also, Champion Advanced FFA Showman, Aiden Hohenwarter; Reserve Champion Advanced FFA Showman Gianna Bava; FFA Greenhand Showmanship, second Makayla Sousa, third Dan Adams, fourth Noah Guiterrez.

In the Sheep show, congratulations to Samantha Lang on winning Reserve Champion Middleweight lamb and for her third place in FFA True Novice Showmanship. Pietro Orlando was the class 5 winner.

A huge congratulations to our beef exhibitors. Trenton Powell had the Reserve champion FFA steer, Molly Terpstra won her class, Natalie Giuntoli was fourth in class and Vivian Borba was eighth.

Escalon FFA swine had a great week of fair. We had several students place high in their class. Constance Belger took home the Grand Champion Yorkshire Market Hog and Tori Russell took home Reserve Champion AOB and placed sixth in greenhand showmanship. Congratulations to all of the exhibitors, they represented us well.

Wrapping up the week was a successful turkey show. These 19 students have been working so hard to get these turkeys ready for fair. A huge congrats to Natale Martinez for winning True Novice Showmanship and advancing to advanced showmanship and winning first place. We had five students in the final drive for market turkeys, which was awesome.

The rest of the results were: Market Class 1 – First, Kaleia Jones, second Angel Romero, third Cameron Ruiz, fourth Angel Soto, fifth Dani Roybal, sixth Alex Martinez, seventh Carlos Diaz. Market Class 2 – First Bailey Dugo, second Cheyenne Ratkiewicz, third Natale Martinez, fourth Brittany Dugo, fifth Cortney Ball, sixth Nate Krieger, seventh Angel Castro. Class 3 – First, Faith Reyes, fourth Owen Heinrich, fifth Jacob Dugo, seventh Miguel Ordaz. Class 4 – Seventh Emily Vickers.

Showmanship: Greenhand – First Cheyenne Ratkiewicz. True Novice – First Natale Martinez, second Nate Krieger, third Emily Vickers, fourth Cameron Ruiz, fifth Brittany Dugo, sixth Cortney Ball, eighth Kaleia Jones, ninth Miguel Ordaz. Advanced – First Natale Martinez, second Jacob Dugo, fifth Cheyenne Ratkiewicz, eighth Faith Reyes.

Also, we had one rabbit exhibitor for Escalon FFA and he made us proud. Tryden Rice brought home the following awards: Supreme Champion breed rabbit, Best of Breed class 4 breed rabbit, second breed class 4 buck, reserve champion meat pen, fifth place single fryer, fifth place advanced market showmanship, second place advanced breed showmanship.

What a way to end the week. Students participated in both large and small animal master showmanship and were honored at the AgFest Awards. We want to give a huge congratulations to Molly Terpstra for winning first place in the large animal master showmanship. Also congratulations to Aiden Hohenwarter who was third, Destiny Reyes who was fifth and Makenzie Mendes who was eighth. Natale Martinez participated in small animal showmanship and placed sixth. We want to congratulate all of our students for their hard work and dedication to their projects.
