A Meet the Candidates event is set for this evening, Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Escalon Community Center, hosted by the Escalon Chamber of Commerce.

Council candidates running in the November election include incumbents Ed Alves and Robert Swift, along with challengers Peter Krumeich, Will Smith and Richard Percey. All five candidates have been invited to the forum and will have the opportunity for opening and closing statements, as well as each having the chance to respond to several questions that will be posed.

Three seats are available on the council, with incumbent Danny Fox opting to not seek re-election. The five candidates will vie for the three available four-year posts; the top three vote getters in the November election will win the seats.

The Candidate Forum is scheduled to run one hour, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the chance to meet the candidates informally following the forum.
