eusd

Now in its second year, the Dual Language Immersion Program through the Escalon Unified School District is growing. Collegeville Elementary School is the current ‘DLI’ site and will also be the setting for a special Parent Informational Night regarding the program. All interested are encouraged to attend the info night on Tuesday, Jan. 28 beginning at 6 p.m.

Collegeville Elementary is at 6701 Jack Tone Road.

Offered currently at just a couple of grade levels, the goal of the Dual Language Immersion is to have students proficient in both English and Spanish. Parents of incoming kindergarten students are encouraged to attend to learn more about this unique educational experience for students to become bilingual and biliterate.

Topics to be covered will include: Learning the rationale and purpose behind the DLI program, hearing from kindergarten teachers who will speak on the classroom structure, and testimonials from parents whose children are currently involved in the DLI program.

With Collegeville as the only site in the district currently offering dual immersion, students enrolled in the program from throughout the district are provided with bussing to the rural school site.
