More than four dozen people turned out to share a holiday meal on Friday evening, Dec. 1 in Escalon.

The setting was the Escalon United Methodist Church and the event was the Escalon Sunrise Rotary Club’s annual Senior Dinner, served up in early December for local senior citizens.

Organizers said they would not be ‘checking IDs’ so those younger family members that wanted to attend the meal to accompany their senior were encouraged to do so. The menu featured lasagna, bread, salad, beverages and dessert. Each attendee also got to take home a gift bag of small items and there were drawings for other gifts as well. There was also the chance to sing some Christmas carols and traditional holiday songs. Rotary Club members had a few younger helpers come in to assist with serving dinner and dessert, adding some smiles to the evening.

With over 50 in attendance, the organizers said the event was classified as a huge success.
