Catherine Mathis was named president for the Delta College Board of Trustees.

The Delta College Board of Trustees on Tuesday, Jan. 8 elected Trustee Catherine Mathis to serve as Board president in 2019, as part of the Board’s annual reorganization.

Trustee Charles Jennings will be vice president, and Trustee Carlos Huerta will be clerk.

“I am honored that my colleagues have elected me to serve as Board president,” Mathis said. “We have some important challenges ahead of us, but I am confident that, with their support, we will succeed.”

Mathis was first elected to the board in 2014 and is beginning her second term. She represents Area 7, which includes Manteca and Escalon.

Delta’s Board, which meets twice a month, provides elected representation for residents throughout Delta’s district, which includes most of San Joaquin County and portions of five other counties. The Board is tasked with approving the College budget and providing policy oversight, among other responsibilities.
