Trio Of Arrests Logged By Police

A Thursday afternoon felony warrant arrest and a pair of public intoxication arrests were among the cases handled this week by Escalon Police.

Officers reported the arrest of Amanda Mendoza, 21, of Oakdale on Thursday, April 4. Oakdale Police officers contacted Escalon, noting that their department had Mendoza in custody on a felony Escalon warrant and the two agencies met at the Stanislaus-San Joaquin County line for the transfer. Mendoza was taken into custody by Escalon Police on the felony possession of a controlled substance warrant about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. She also faces misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia counts and was booked at San Joaquin County Jail.

Saturday evening, April 6, police were doing an area check of the Community Center and observed a male staggering in the area, appearing to be leaning against a vehicle in order to stay up. When police made contact with him, they found the 33-year-old Manteca man to be intoxicated. He was arrested and booked at county jail following the incident at about 8:45 p.m.

Responding to a disturbance in the 1200 block of Plaza shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, April 7, officers said there had been a fight prior to their arrival but the victim declined to press charges against the assailant. Police, however, found the 31-year-old Escalon man who had been the assailant was intoxicated and they arrested him on the public intoxication charge and booked him at county jail.
