On Wednesday, Sept. 27, members of the Escalon FFA chapter visited the San Joaquin County Office of Education to compete in Opening/Closing contest. Each year, the Delta Valley Section officer team hosts this speaking competition to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their speaking abilities in front of a panel of judges. The purpose of these public speaking events is to allow students to gain confidence and interact with people from other schools in the county.

This year, Escalon had an incredible turnout and won many awards. To start off, the Greenhand Officer team placed first overall with Luke Konradi, Mason Silva, Nathon Watson, Trenton Silva, Peyton Stagno, and Carli Jones. The Chapter Officer team including Krystal Hannaford, Hannah Wampler, Natalie Giuntoli, Destiny Reyes, Jordin Lovett, and Makenzie Mendes placed third overall.

Many individual awards were also received by a handful of Escalon FFA members. On the Greenhand Officer team, Luke Konradi received first high as sentinel, Mason Silva received third high as reporter, Trenton Silva received first high as secretary, Peyton Stagno received third high as vice president, and Carli Jones received third high individual as president. On the Chapter Officer team, Natalie Giuntoli placed first high individual as treasurer, Destiny Reyes placed second high as secretary, and Jordin Lovett placed first high individual as vice president. On our open teams, both Kaleia Jones and Soraya Aguayo placed second individually as president and sentinel.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and contributed to our amazing success.
