San Joaquin Parks Update

As San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation Division has re-opened some regional and community parks effective May 18, they are also now able to allow disc golf with baskets, plus barbecues and horseshoe pits are available as well. Many other activities, such as playgrounds, covered picnic shelters and water play areas are still not accessible, but parks officials said they will open them as soon as they’re given the green light. Social distancing guidelines are still in place. As a reminder, Micke Grove and Oak Grove regional parks are open only until 6 p.m. and the usual first-come/first-serve restrictions apply (i.e.: no bounce houses, trailer BBQ, amplified sound, etc.). Before you visit, officials ask that you read the guidelines at: www.sjparks.com.

No Motor Madness

Members of the Soroptimist International of Oakdale have made the decision to cancel their annual ‘Motor Madness’ Fundraiser for this year. Originally scheduled for March 28, the event was first postponed until June 13 but officials have now decided to cancel it altogether for 2020. They plan to bring the fundraiser back in 2021.

Festa Italiana Cancelled

The Committee for Festa Italiana has announced that Festa Italiana! 2020 scheduled for Sunday, June 14 has been cancelled due to the current social restrictions. Festa Italiana! will return to the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds on Sunday, June 13, 2021. One of the largest celebrations of Italian Culture in the Central Valley and Northern California, organizers hope you will save the date and join them in 2021 for a day of fine food, family activities and the best in local Italian entertainment.
