City Staff Changes Bring Some Reorganization

Reorganization at the City of Escalon has prompted recent changes.

Interim City Manager John Abrew said the most recent action dealt with city hall and he released a statement regarding the action on Friday.

"In an ongoing effort to reorganize due to financial constraints, the City Clerk/Human Resources Administrator has been released from their contract and is no longer employed with the City," the report stated.

Duties previously handled through that position are being reallocated, Abrew added.

"Right now we're reviewing our options," he said of likely having additional staff members pick up portions of the work.

Also, Oct. 1 brought a change in the Recreation Department as well, with former fulltime Recreation Director Bridget Gaines vacating that post but moving in to the secretarial-clerical fulltime position within the department. A new part-time Recreation Coordinator, David Anderson, has taken over the supervisory role.

City officials are also planning for this weekend's Citywide Yard Sale, with maps due to be available now in stores, restaurants and at a variety of locations around town. The coordinated city sale day is this Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
