Christmas Tree Pick Up Slated
fire

As they do every year, the Escalon Fire Department is offering a free service for residents, the annual Christmas Tree pick up.

Officials said the date for this year’s collection is Saturday, Jan. 9.

Residents that would like their tree picked up and hauled off by the fire department are asked to take off all ornaments and tinsel, remove the tree from the stand and place it curbside in front of their home. The tree should be put out no later than Friday night, Jan. 8 to be ready for the pick up on Jan. 9.

Meanwhile, fire officials said as they get ready to start a new year, they are accepting applications for the position of Reserve Firefighter with the department. Must be 18 years old to apply. Those that are interested or would like more information can contact Battalion Chief Joe Pelot or Firefighter Engineer Ryan Burr at 209-838-7500. You can also stop by Fire Station 1 at 1749 Coley to pick up an application.

Reserve firefighters help complement the paid full-time staff and the volunteer corps to provide round-the-clock coverage for the Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District.
